Renee Koplan, CSM

Renee Koplan joined LIHHS in September 2024 as Client Services Manager. Her varied background includes administration, human resources, small business operations, travel/tourism, and wildlife husbandry/rehabilitation.

Before moving to Lopez sight unseen in 2014, Renee lived in six countries on three continents (including 4 other islands), and enjoyed contributing to her community wherever it was. Renee is an active volunteer with Wolf Hollow, the Marine Mammal Stranding Network, Islands Oil Spill Association, Island Rides, Lopez Fire as an EMT and Wildland Firefighter, and is the SHIBA Volunteer for Lopez. In her free time, Renee enjoys hiking the trails and exploring the beaches with her partner and their two rescue dogs; knitting, crafting, and traveling. Renee is excited to continue serving Lopez in this new role and looks forward to expanding LIHHS’s connections within our community.

Emma Ewert, Office Manager (on leave)

In March of 2023, Emma Ewert started as the Office Manager. She grew up on Lopez, and moved back in 2021 with her husband and their dog Mardy after hiking the Pacific Crest Trail. She loves working with people in all walks of life, and brings an eclectic experience to her work at LIHHS – she holds a M.Ed in Environmental Education with a certificate in nonprofit management from Western, and has been able to use that to has work in environmental education, run a nonprofit daycare in Yellowstone, and so much more.

Currently, Emma also volunteers on Lopez as an EMT, and enjoys getting to live back on Lopez where she can spend time outdoors, and enjoy life with family and friends. She is excited to further serve the Lopez community through Lopez Island Home & Hospice Support, and especially enjoys getting to connect people to the resources that help make their day to day lives just a little easier.
