“Kamo Gawa” — Framed Print by Marc Foster Grant
“Kamo Gawa” — Framed Print
Artist: Marc Foster Grant
Named for the Kamo River in Kyoto, Kamo Gawa reflects the meditative flow and layered history of a place where water, light, and human movement meet. Former Lopez Island artist Marc Foster Grant was known for his mixed-media works that weave together pattern, texture, and abstraction. His art often draws from travels and landscapes abroad, while maintaining the contemplative sensibility he cultivated during his years living and working on Lopez.
This piece features a striking interplay of painterly texture and rhythmic dot-and-circle motifs, giving it a rhythmic, meditative feel. Beautifully framed in a minimalist black frame on a warm-toned backing, it’s ready to hang and adds an elegant, contemporary accent to any space.
A meaningful work by an artist remembered fondly in the island’s creative community.
