Hand-Turned Sycamore Serving Bowl by TJ Anderson
Crafted by Lopez Island woodturner TJ Anderson, this elegant sycamore bowl carries a uniquely local story. The wood was reclaimed from a sycamore tree on TJ’s property—one he chose to remove after it outgrew its space and began shading out the plants beneath its canopy. Rather than let the wood go to waste, TJ transformed it into this graceful, one-of-a-kind vessel.
Sycamore’s fine, subtle grain reveals itself beautifully under TJ’s skilled turning, resulting in a bowl that feels both contemporary and timeless. Finished to be completely food-safe, it’s perfect for serving fruit, nuts, or seasonal salads—or simply displayed on its own as a sculptural piece of Lopez craftsmanship.
TJ’s work is known for honoring the character, story, and natural beauty of local woods. You can explore more of his artistry through the Lopez Artist Guild or by pairing this with his companion offering, a hand-turned maple bowl, also donated to this year’s auction.
A functional artwork with Lopez roots—an heirloom in the making.
