This hand-carved alder bowl from Lopez woodworker Mike Higgins is the smaller and deeper of the two pieces he contributed this year. Its pleasing rounded shape and smooth, satin-finished interior showcase alder’s subtle shifts of color and grain, while the lightly textured outer rim keeps a touch of organic character. Versatile and beautifully made, it’s equally at home serving salads and snacks or standing alone as a decorative accent.
